The highly popular anime “Hakata Mentai! Pirikarako-chan”, which aired in July 2019 on Kyushu Asahi Broadcasting, is a shor t slapstick animation that por trays the lives of fair ies in a shopping promenade that“ looks like Hakata, but isn’t Hakata”. A var iety of fair ies representing Hakata’s local specialties, such as “Pirikarako-chan”, the fairy of pollock roe, and “Amao”, the fairy of strawber r ies, enter the scene which is set in a town depicted with a soft atmosphere of warmth.
